Terms and Conditions

1. About us

Lane Marketing provides website design, digital marketing, and AI tool development services for small businesses across the United Kingdom. We are based in Staffordshire. Our contact email is lanemarketingservices@gmail.com and our telephone number is 01782 901352.

2. Scope of these terms

These terms and conditions govern the relationship between Lane Marketing and any client who engages us to provide services. By instructing us to carry out work, you agree to these terms. These terms apply to all services including website design and build, monthly management packages, AI tool development, and any other services we provide.

3. Our services

Website builds

We design and build websites to the specification agreed in your brief. Our standard Launch package includes a 4 to 6 page website, domain registration, hosting setup, SSL certificate, Google Search Console setup, Google Business Profile setup, and one round of amendments. The exact scope is confirmed at the time of instruction.

Monthly management packages

Visibility and Growth packages are billed monthly following the completion of your initial build. These are rolling contracts with no minimum term. You may cancel with 30 days written notice. Your website will remain live regardless of whether you continue with a monthly package.

AI tools and bespoke work

Bespoke AI tool development and other custom work is scoped and quoted individually. A separate written agreement will be provided for any project outside our standard packages.

4. Payment terms

We do not require payment upfront for standard website builds. Payment is requested via a secure Stripe invoice link once you have reviewed and approved your website. Payment is due within 7 days of the invoice being issued. Monthly packages are billed in advance on the same date each month.

We reserve the right to withhold the launch of a website or suspension of services if an invoice remains unpaid beyond 14 days without agreed arrangement.

5. Ownership, accounts, and handover

Upon receipt of full payment, ownership of your website, its code, content, and assets transfers to you in full.

As part of every build, we create and configure two accounts on your behalf using your email address:

  • A Cloudflare account, in which your domain name is registered
  • A Netlify account, on which your website is hosted

Both accounts are created in your name from the outset. We add ourselves as a collaborator during the build and management period. On completion of your build and receipt of payment, we remove ourselves as a collaborator from both accounts and issue you a full handover document containing all login credentials, a guide to each account, and instructions for managing your site independently.

If you have chosen the Launch, Shop, or Bespoke package without an ongoing monthly management option, this handover marks the end of our involvement. Your domain, your hosting account, and your website files are entirely yours. You may move your hosting to any provider you choose, transfer your domain to any registrar, or hand everything to another developer. There is no lock-in and no dependency on Lane Marketing after handover.

If you are on a Visibility or Growth monthly management plan, we retain collaborator access to manage the ongoing service. On cancellation of the monthly plan, we remove our collaborator access and issue an updated handover document as above.

We retain the right to reference completed work in our portfolio and marketing materials unless you expressly ask us not to in writing.

6. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for providing accurate information in your brief, supplying any content, images, or assets you wish to use on your website, and ensuring you have the right to use any materials you provide to us. We will not be liable for claims arising from content or images supplied by you.

You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of information on your website once it has been handed over, unless you have a monthly management package in place.

7. Amendments

One round of amendments is included in every standard build. A round of amendments means a consolidated list of changes submitted in a single communication. Additional amendments beyond this scope may be charged at our standard hourly rate, which we will confirm before carrying out any additional work.

8. Turnaround times

We aim to complete most website builds within 48 hours of receiving a complete brief and all required assets. This is a target and not a contractual commitment. More complex builds, or those where assets are provided late, may take longer. We will communicate expected timelines clearly.

9. Limitation of liability

Our liability to you in connection with any services provided is limited to the amount you have paid us for those services. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of revenue, loss of business, or loss of data. We do not guarantee specific search engine rankings or marketing results.

10. Cancellation

You may cancel a website build project at any time before payment is made without incurring any charge. Once payment has been made, cancellations are not eligible for refund.

Monthly packages may be cancelled with 30 days written notice to lanemarketingservices@gmail.com. You will continue to have access to the service for the remainder of the notice period.

13. AI search and citation optimisation

Where included in your package, we implement technical and content foundations designed to make your website a strong candidate for citation and recommendation by AI-powered search and assistant platforms including but not limited to ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude.

This includes structured data markup, semantic HTML, an llms.txt file, and content structured to directly answer common questions relevant to your business. These are established and emerging best practices for AI discoverability.

We cannot guarantee that any AI platform will cite, recommend, or surface your business in response to any particular query. These systems make their own independent decisions based on their training data, crawl frequency, content quality, domain authority, and other signals outside our control. What we can do, and what we commit to doing, is ensure the technical and content foundations of your website are as strong as possible so that your site is a credible candidate for AI systems to draw from.

No refund or compensation will be provided on the basis of non-appearance in AI-generated responses.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page. Continued use of our services following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

If you have any questions about these terms, please contact us at lanemarketingservices@gmail.com or call 01782 901352.
