Lane Marketing is a web design and digital marketing business based in Staffordshire. We build professional websites for small businesses across Staffordshire and Cheshire — businesses that need a proper online presence but do not want to deal with expensive agencies, confusing retainers, or websites they cannot actually own.
Who we are
Lane Marketing was founded by Richard Lane, an entrepreneur with a background spanning multiple business ventures across Staffordshire. Having built, scaled, and sold businesses himself, Richard understands what small business owners actually need from a website — and what they do not.
What they need: a professional site that looks credible, loads fast, ranks on Google, and brings in enquiries. What they do not need: a bloated WordPress installation, a monthly platform fee that never ends, or a site that belongs to an agency rather than them.
That frustration is where Lane Marketing came from — and it is why every site we build is handed over to the client in their own accounts, with no lock-in and no dependency on us after launch.
How we work
We keep things simple and we are honest about what we do and do not do.
We build from scratch
Every site is written in clean code — no WordPress, no Wix, no page builders. This means faster sites, better security, and no ongoing platform subscription fees. It also means your site looks like your business, not a template used by thousands of others.
Everything in your name from day one
We create your Cloudflare domain account and your Netlify hosting account in your name and with your email address. We add ourselves as a collaborator to manage the build, then remove ourselves when you launch. Your domain and hosting belong to you from the moment we start — not from the moment you pay.
No payment until you approve
We build the site and send you a staging link. You review it on your phone, share it with people you trust, and request any changes. We only send a Stripe invoice once you are completely happy. If you decide not to proceed, you owe nothing.
We tell you what we can and cannot do
We are not a full-service agency with a team of account managers, designers, copywriters, and developers. We are a lean, specialist operation that does one thing well — building professional websites for small businesses. If you need something outside that scope, we will tell you honestly rather than taking your money and underdelivering.
Why the ownership model matters
Most web agencies retain control of their clients' sites. The domain is in the agency's Cloudflare account. The hosting is in the agency's Netlify or server account. The client has the login to the CMS but little else.
If the client leaves, they face a migration headache. If the agency goes under, they may lose everything. Lane Marketing works differently. Your accounts are yours. Leaving us, if you ever choose to, is two clicks — remove collaborator. Nothing to migrate, nothing to transfer, no dependency on us.
